Club Arch Project

As a club project, members of the BCKA are working on a Kite Arch. The arch will be a series of diamonds. The pattern you choose is up to you...from a solid colour to an intricate design. Each kite in the arch can be as individual as it's maker. The Arch will be an example of the creativity of the club members, and will be flown at future events. If you would like to be involved, create a kite by following the instructions below.

Sail
Make your kite out of ripstop nylon. The finished size is 19" X 19". Please remember to add 1/4" for a rolled seam to finish the edges, or use the exact size and sew on an edge with binding. Do not install a spine. We'll have a workshop to sew the arch together and make spines.

Spar Pockets & Assembly
Hot cut 2 spar pockets from a 3/4" wide piece of black 4 oz. Dacron. If you don't have that, fold up 3/4 oz. nylon three layers thick for pocket material. The top pocket piece is
1-1/4" long and the bottom piece is 2" long. Fold the pocket material over so the top piece is about 1/4" shorter than the bottom layer. Sew the pocket down on 3 sides.

Tail
Sew on a 6 foot tail and you're set
